Hey Will I really enjoyed looking at your CHAT map presentation because I love Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure! It was cool to learn more about one of my favorite classic comedies. I think the pictures that you chose accurately captured the atmosphere of the movie. I liked how you incorporated pictures into your presentation as backgrounds; however, I suggest changing the font color on the production, ecology, description, and works cited pages because it was hard to read without squinting. I also think it would be a good idea to increase the font size on your works cited page. I thought your reception slide was very well said; you definitely got the reception of the movie across very clearly. Another suggestion that I can make is to add descriptions under each of your slides. I think that an addition of descriptions beneath your slides would greatly enhance your presentation. One more suggestion would be to break up the information on your slides into bullet points. Breaking information up into bullet points would make it easier for the audience to follow your presentation. However, I did find the information on your slides to be rather helpful. I like how you added a works cited page at the end of your CHAT presentation, it was definitely a nice touch. You can tell you did your research on this film and your presentation shows that. Overall, I think you did a good job with creating this presentation!

Hey Will! I think you did a great job with your CHAT presentation! I have never seen Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure but after viewing your presentation, I am interested in seeing the movie. I think you did a great job with the pictures in this and really making the overall theme of this movie stand out in each and every one of your slides. Having full pictures in the background of each of your slides looks really cool! However, the font is hard to read in some of your slides because of the background colors. You did not give too much information in your slides which made it a lot easier to follow. Getting the main point across really makes things easier to understand. You gave a lot of information about what the movie is all about which definitely helps people like me who have not seen the movie. I like that you have a citation page because it makes it easier to locate where you received all of your information, however, the font was very small so it was really hard to see! Overall, I think you did a great job!!

Will—I really like how you used the picture as the title pages’ background it has a lot of color in it and emphasizes the characters pictures in the cover. In the production slide it was a little hard to read the font with the color kind of blending in with the background picture. The red font throughout the CHAT map was rather hard on the eye and there was no summary after each slide to go more in depth about each part of the 7 elements of CHAT. Overall it was a nice idea but I think it could have used more work.

Hey Will, I think you did a really good job and I really liked looking through all your slides. They were put together really well and I liked how all of them were very colorful. Although the pictures were fun to look at and made the message of the slide pop out and come to life I would recommend one thing, to make the slides a little bit easier to read I would have a plain colored background and have the pictures to the side of the text. This would make it easier for the reader to read the text. Although I made this one suggestion I really did like how the pictures seemed to correlate with what you were saying and put more meaning into your words. Overall, I learned a lot from your slides considering I’ve never actually seen Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Seeing your information makes me want to see what this show is all about. You did very good research and didn’t put too many words on your slides but in contrast made it quick and straight to the point. On the contrary however, I did not see additional comments under each slide. In order to make your slides more understandable and to clear up any outstanding questions the reader might have I would suggest putting in these additional comments under each slide. The thing that I liked best about your presentation was the source page at the end of your slides. This is useful to us readers because all the citation information is conveniently in one spot and we can easily relook up any information we would like to. in addition to this i would also recommend you to have in text citation. Meaning, I would have a citation on the slide itself. This would make it more clear to which information is being cited. lastly, I would change the color of the text on the citation page; this is because it is a little difficult to see. Overall, I think you did a great job with your research and presentation!

What a classic movie. Easily one of my favorites. This is very well done visually. Each slide has a funny scene from the movie. I felt like after seeing the powerpoint, i remember every scene. Also, the humurous element of the film is depicted well within your slides. The socialization slide is great because its true that some kids think procrastinating is ok and they will still be fine in he work place. The only thing i would reccommend is that some of the slides are difficult to read because of the font color and backround picture. Overall, funny and good project.

Will,

Although I have never seen Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, your CHAT map helped me to better understand what the movie was about. I thought you did a good job at incorporating pictures from the movie and I felt this helped to better understand the theme of the movie. I liked how you had a citations page as well. My advice would be to add explanation boxes at the end of each slide to explain how the movie relates to the seven aspects of CHAT. Also by adding the explanations, you can cut down on some of the information you have in your bullet points. This will make the information easier to read and easier for the reader to take in the main points. I think you did a good job at explaining how the movie is geared towards a younger audience or anyone who enjoys this kind of humor. After some of the information you provide on each slide you may want to consider adding citations in addition to the citation page that you included so that the reader knows where the information is coming from. Overall, you did a good job at making your slides look appealing and with a few corrections your CHAT map will be great!!

Will,

Ive always wanted to see this movie but never have. From looking through your chat map i know i need to check it out soon. My checklist i have to follow is house keeping and i can say you did a pretty good job. Its nice that you put all of your sources at the end of the page because i myself hate having to look through a slide and seeing links at the end of it because it just isnt appealing to the eye. So doing it at the end gives me a better understanding of the chat map because i can just concentrate on the slides and the information given. Also, you did put alot of text into the slides which i feel could have been better put as a comment text rather than the slide. There was also alot of information on the slides which like i said in my previous post, could have been kept off and used as a comment text. I was able to follow the text though easily and good job. Now i need to watch this movie. Good job man

Hey Will,

I really enjoyed your presentation because I learned about something new. I have never seen or even heard about Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure and I feel like I really need to go watch the movie now. I love Keanu Reeves, I think he is so underrated. You did such a good job explaining who would like the movie and how to prepare yourself to understand the movie. I loved the pictures you chose too, they were so funny and just made me want to see what Bill and Ted were saying during the situation. I could definitely tell that you did your research and that you were truly a fan of the movie. The only thing that I would change is your font color. It was difficult to read on certain slides because it was a too bright against the background. Maybe you could have added a little explanation paragraph for each slide just to go into more depth about the movie. Other than that I thought your CHAT map was enthusiastic and entertaining. Good Job! I hope this is on Netflix because I want to watch it right now.

Hey there Will-

This movie truly is a classic. Keanu Reeves plays a role that is completely outside of his older Keanu norm! The theme is far fetched, yet the film is so well put together that it stays entertaining (even if the duo might be two of the dumbest dudes you’ll ever encounter). Your socialization slide I couldn’t agree with anymore! The movie definitely does give a false idea of how to get by in life and what it takes to get big things accomplished. One suggestion that I have, however, is to make the text easier to read. I found it hard to read a lot of the text throughout the slides yet I did enjoy that each background was a different picture, which portrayed the basic ideas of the movie. Maybe next time choose a different font color for each slide just so that it is easier for the audience to read. Other than that, I think that your presentation was great along with your choice in topic! Keep up the good work man, great job!

Sincerely, Pat

Hey Will,

I was interested to read your presentation because this is a movie that I’ve never seen before or even heard of. Seems like a pretty goofy movie. There’s a few things that I noticed about your slides. One is that the format of the slides are all different which made it a bit hard to follow. Eg: The text on the slides were always different colors, and sometimes they were hard to read because of the background pictures. The contrast didn’t always match up. Anyways, in regard to the who the audience is you made it clear that it is targeted toward the youth. It seems to have a very peculiar sense of humor that would make it not for everyone like some comedies are. I feel that there are a few parts that should be fixed a little like the distribution and reception slides because they seem to contradict each other. One says its a family oriented movie and the other discusses how rediculous it is to watch it. Either way, good job addressing CHAT throughout your powerpoint.

Sincerely,

Jennifer.

Hey will, good job! you representation of the movie was really good. this is one of the movies i forgot about completely. your slides were all animated and funny which went along with the concept of the movie. it is clear that the audience was aimed at those who enjoy a good laugh. each slide contained enough information to represent the sub title. however the fonts used were sometimes hard to read- but that is ok. i really enjoyed your socialization slide because it was true and i agreed with everything said. overall good job on your first CHAT map. keep up the good work

Hi Will! I really like the background of your production slide and your title page. I think you should have included the author in this slide. I think that you should have picked another color for this slide because it is kind of hard to see in some areas. I like how you did not put too much information on the slide but I think you should have elaborated under this slide to tell more about the production. I noticed that you did not include a citation up under the slide but instead included a works cited slide. I think that the citation should have been up under the slide so the readers would not have to figure out what citation goes with what slide. Overall I think you did a good job!

Hey Will!

I loved your presentation. Although one thing I'd like to point out is that sometimes its hard to read the text in some of the slides due to the photo background. Like others have said, I'd also like to point out about the text. I think it should be more unified instead of all over the place. I also feel like you should've gone more indepth with each slide. At least just enough information. One thing I did like about your presentation is that each slide's photo made me laugh a little. Overall Great job!

Hey Will,

I liked your presentation a lot, I have never heard of this movie before, but it seems quite interesting! I felt like you did a good job throughout the presentation illustrating each requirement for it. When it comes to the audience requirement, you do a good job telling us who the movie can relate to and why although I think you could put more examples of why more people can relate to the movie. If you could also find a quote or two about why people enjoyed the movie that could also help your presentation for people who read it and may cause them to watch it. Other than that, I liked your presentation because it taught me some things on a movie I'd never heard of before.

Will,

This is such a great movie I started laughing just thinking about it and your pictures don’t help. I think you did a great job with your overall presentation, but there are some things you could change if you would like. First thing I would change is your font colors because they are hard to read on some slides especially the works cited. An easy solution to your problem is take the pictures out of the back ground and just have them as additions. You should also think about adding more information to distribution like what year it came out and how it was released such as in Movies Theater to VHS. I do think though you did a very nice job at socialization part. Overall you did a great job and I enjoyed reading your presentation. I love how you keep it short and simple.

**Housekeeping**

- Presentation Notes

- Use of Citation

I like your choice of images for your slides - they do give a good feel for the tone and nature of the movie, and you've matched Winters and Reeves's facial expressions to the message of each slide. This really adds to the humor inherent in your presentation.

On the downside, though, limiting yourself to only using slides has reduced the amount of text you can present while still delivering the impact of the full images. Given the nature of the *Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure* and your good use of tone, I'd recommend moving all the descriptive text into separate notes, and then rely on the images to set the tone without distraction. This would also make the text easier to read - the Ecology, Distribution, and Works Cited slides are particularly difficult to read, and this hurts the overall impact of your presentation.

**Production**

- Describing how it's produced

- Acknowledgement of creators

- Describing the research done by the authors

In your Activity section, you talk about how the director approached multiple production companies before receiving the go-ahead to shoot his film. Tell us more about what happened once he had the funding. How were Keanu Reeves and Alex Winters chosen for the lead roles? Where did the filming take place? You'll want to describe how the making of the film helped create the "rock on!" motif of slacker time travelers.

**Genre Conventions**

- Identifying the genre

- Describing the genre conventions

- Showing how these conventions are used.

You have some great lines in your presentation, like in the Ecology slide, when attributing the lack of actual historical figures to "insufficient funding." This, to me, reflects the true nature of the movie, a kind of homage to slackers who make good. To build on lines like this, you'll want to talk about how the movie itself reflects this type of attitude toward life. Are there similar movies out there? Did the movie challenge expectations?

**Social Activity**

- Describing social and physical distribution

- Discussing cultural reception

I like the reference on your Representation slide to the film's rating and what this means for the typical viewer. However, you'll need to differentiate between ESRB ratings and MPAA ratings (MPAA applies to movies, ESRB to games).

**Audience**

- Identifying the intended audience

- Discussing how genre coventions are used to attract that audience

- Indicating audience reception.

Your presentation does give a very good idea of your own personal response to the movie. However, you'll want to more carefully describe the overall audience for the movie. In saying that the movie "suggests a family-oriented, relaxed approach to education," do you mean that the movie is directed toward families? Or that Bill and Ted as characters espouse this kind of approach to school? I'm under the impression that you're adding a bit of humor to your presentation here, but the humor would be stronger if we know more about the movie's actual audience in order to better gauge your descriptions of it. In particular, how many people watched the movie? What did they say about it?

Hey Will!

I have honestly never heard of this until your presentation, so thanks for some new entertainment! First off you presentation was great especially the pictures you chose for the background. I would have to say it was sometimes difficult to read some of the texts on the slides, but good enough to still read just after a little eye squinting. Great choice on having a work cited page! Good presentation all around, but if there was something I would suggest it would be to give a little more information. It was vague at some slide, but good thing the facts still were able to get the points of the presentation across. Other than that you did a good job on this CHAT map!

Will,

Your presentation is great! It first caught my attention with all the bright colors on your slides. I completely forgot about this movie and seeing this made it feel like I was watching it for the first time all over again. I am not sure how popular this movie was but I know that it was funny. You could have given more information on some of your slides, like the production slide. For someone who has not seen it, some of your slides left a lot to be desired. Overall I liked how you did it and how you caught my attention so, good job!

Hi Will, Your CHAT map was epic especially your reception slide, I have never even heard of this movie! But after going through this I feel like I should probably go and watch it. On the production slide I don't feel like you included enough information. I think that some of the information you put in your activity slide could have been useful in your production slide! I enjoyed all the pictures and I think overall you did a great job. You just need more information

jmmahe2 2 months ago

Will, I thought this movie was hilarious. You could have went into a ton of more detail about all the historic figures they met. You could have talked about how it relates to lives of students in school. You could have talked about the production also. For one of the slides, you used yellow font and it was kind of hard to read. Next time, put a little more effort into it. You did an a pretty good job because you chose an awesome movie from back in the day. If I could, I would have us watch this movie in English class for one of the weeks we are in there. Also, talk more about the distribution and any awards it may have won when it was released. Nonetheless, good job my friend.
